The Hillcrest staff consists of 31 licensed staff members, 1 administrator, 27 instructional assistants, (full and part-time), 2 secretaries, 2.5 custodians and a food service staff.  Hillcrest Elementary School is dedicated to actively cultivating a culture of equity and excellence by creating and sustaining curriculum and instructional practices that lead to high-quality learning for each and every student. We will build the capacity of our educators to meet challenges and opportunities of teaching and learning in a dynamic and evolving environment. We engage in professional learning communities to increase collective teacher efficacy.  We will strive to provide curriculum and instruction that inspires and engages students and fosters a cycle of continuous instructional improvement through the use of data, collaboration and instructional support.

Houghton Mifflin and Hartcourt Brace are currently the adopted reading and math curriculum.   Additional programs are used to supplement core instruction in reading and include Accelerated Reader (first grade through fourth grade) and the Waterford Early Literacy program (Kindergarten through second grade).  The Title 1 program at Hillcrest provides additional support in a small group setting to students needing extra support in reading.

The PTA at Hillcrest is very active and provides a tremendous amount of support for our school.  The PTA generates funds that are used for academic support as well as school improvements. They also sponsor many school wide events.  There are a large number of volunteers at Hillcrest who help in the classrooms.
